The Children of the Moon

Group description
Once part of the Daughters of the North, the Children of the Moon were their militaristic might. The Children were The Daughter’s protectors, their shield and sword against their enemies and those who seeked the Below for their own wrongdoings. They were masters of the ambush, the silver shadows of night, oftentimes burying themselves under inches of snow, their long, tufted ears only visible as they waited to strike from the ground under. With claws dipped in baneberry, a white, rounded fruit capable of causing hallucinations and vomiting, the Children were absolutely ruthless as they collided with their enemies. However, as the Daughters became more and more reclusive and pacifistic, the Children found themselves against the change.

They liked battling, the feeling of your muscles aching after a fight and the sense of pride for feeding the earth with corpses felt like nothing else. They didn’t want to stick into the shadows. They belonged under the moon’s light.

And so they plead their case to the Daughter's Mouth- let them keep their ways or die trying to stop them. Simple choice really… But the Mouth chose to die.

The rest of the Daughters were horrified when the mouth was slain in front of them. The Children were banished and the newest code was put in place in the Daughters ‘’you must not kill for your own pleasure’’.

The Children of the Moon are now a myth of a wandering small group of nature and moon worshippers, with battle skills suited for winter warfare. Even if they are just a myth, they do very much exist and have helped the clans in times of peril, assisting the clans during the Great Divide, fighting against Wildstar’s tyranny.

While terrifying on the battlefield, their sense of family is what kept them so close as they travel to and fro, accepting offers to assist the less fortunate. Through snow, sleet, and shine, the Children operated like a pack of feral cats, only remaining civil to pass on their bloodline to unsuspecting clan cats and keep their name alive.

Hierarchy
The Children of the Moon follow their group's greatest healer called the Blessed one. The Blessed one is believed to be blessed by the Moon and have the rumored ability of mixing plants and herbs (hallucinogens) in such a manner it would conjure the Moon herself when ingested. Here, they would wish for easy snows and clean killings, along with the power of Snowsight, the ability to see and speak to the dead. The only one who knows for certain if these powers are real is the Blessed one themselves as there is no concrete evidence of their abilities being real.

Quirks/Traditions

_Gender indifference_
It is noted that The Children of the Moon don’t recognise gender, they believe it is a waste of time and takes away from the true meaning of being a servant of The Moon. Most of the males and females look nearly identical where masculine and feminine traits would be noticeable on some, and the only real difference is the pitch in voice, height, and birth weight. Though some AFAB and AMAB felines do embrace their identity, it is frowned upon for there to be extremes that bring notice to these features instead of focusing on serving The Moon.

_Skill assessments and work titles_
A relic from their times in the Daughters young cats go through assessments where it is seen what they are good at. Young cats are trained by the entire group, but often choose what they specialize in after their assessments. After assessments they gain a title to honor their skills.

_Courting_
Romantic relationships are often looked down upon, as it is believed the Children should only have love for the Moon in their hearts. If you are openly in a relationship, you may get exiled from the group.

_Moon worship_
The Children of the Moon worship not only the Below and value physical wellbeing, but more importantly they praise the Moon. They believe the Moon, often lovingly called Moonmaiden, grants them light during night hunts and helps them disguise themselves. They believe that after death the Moon will take them up to the sky to be one of her stars. The belief of what happens after death is most likely a story they have heard about Itha, but over generations have been given to the Moon.
The Moon does not give them any real powers nor has it been proven yet to be a deity of any kind.
